Popular watersports location

Kortgene is located on the Veerse Meer, a lagoon which is a haven for wildlife and watersports enthusiasts.  There are all sorts of activities to do on the water, but the surrounding countryside offers lots for outdoor types too. One interesting excursion is to take the bike and foot-passenger ferry from Kortgene across the Veerse Meer to Wolphaartsdijk.

The Delta Marina in Kortgene is a great place from which to explore the Veerse Meer. Here there is a watersports shop, a restaurant ('t Veeruus) and a place to rent boats and bicycles.

One of Kortgene’s key landmarks is the windmill, Molen ‘De Korenbloem’. The mill dates back to 1873 and has recently been restored to its former glory. The mill produces and sells local produce and the mill shop is open to visitors ever Saturday.

What to do in Kortgene

Noord-Beveland Midden MTB route

Are you a mountain bike enthusiast? If so, the Noord-Beveland Midden MTB route  is definitely worth trying! At 37 kilometres, it is the longest mountain bike trail in Noord-Beveland and takes in both the Veerse Meer and Oosterschelde estuary.

Eating out in Kortgene

There are lots of fine eateries in Kortgene. Here are just a few tips. At Graaf van Buren they like to think not in terms of problems, but in opportunities. During the day, lunch is prepared by persons with learning difficulties on work schemes here. In the evening, it offers culinary highlights and a varied menu. Grand Cafe de Loods, formerly a rock music venue, has been transformed into a fish restaurant. At Eeterij 'Iets Anders' you can sample fresh produce in a homely and snug setting! 

Shopping in Kortgene

Kortgene has a number of interesting shops. For example, The B-boutique Kortgene, a fashionable clothes shop. Further along is de Woongalerij, where alongside attractive furniture, they also sell clothes, books and jewellery. Every Saturday, there’s a small market on the square next to the church, with stalls purveying fresh local produce.
